Ward Christmas Party

A few weeks ago, we asked Morgan if she could sing at the Ward Christmas Party. Without hesitation, she agreed. Well...last night was the dinner and she did great. We are so lucky to have such beautiful girls.

Morgan turned seven yesterday. She loves Reeses peanut butter cups so I found a yummy recipe and made my first cake from scratch. She loved it! We had such a fun day with her. I had several "mom-moments" (I cried) as I paid closer attention to her throughout the day. She amazes me with her tenderness, her intelligence, her happiness, her humor, and her confidence.

The Cool Dancer

Morgan wanted to enter the reflections contest this year. Of course, she didn't want to do something simple. Rather, she wanted to write and star in a play. Follow closely, she plays both main parts. We had to bribe Lauren (at first), but she started getting excited as things came together. She told us she didn't care if she won or not, because she has a "pretty cool movie" and now she's famous. We are very proud of her. She wrote the story, analyzed the characters, created the play, re-wrote for the screenplay, and told her dad what to do while filming. Hope you enjoy watching as much as we enjoyed making it.

Does bad hair run in the family?

About a year ago Adelyn woke up with an amazing hair-do.(Left) I had to take a picture! Yesterday, Lily woke up and again...we had to take a picture.(Right) Kevin said we should buy stock in detangler and other things, but we don't need to talk about that yet...

We were getting ready to go on a little walk when all of a sudden Adelyn disappeared. She was pretty excited about taking Max on our walk....can you tell?

Adelyn, Adelyn, Adelyn

Adelyn loves to draw on post-its. It is common for me to reach into the drawer to write something down and not find a blank post-it. Recently, her drawings have started to take more shape. She loves to draw flowers. All of her pictures lately have been flowers until just a few days ago she brought me one and told me it was a picture of herself. I think she looks beautiful!

While I put Lily down for her nap today, I asked Adelyn to pick up all of the dress up clothes she had dumped out. She even had an incentive...Kevin rented the newest Dora movie for her. The deal was if she picked up the dress ups and accessories by the time I got Lily to sleep, she could watch Dora save the ice princess. As soon as Lily was asleep, I went into the playroom and the dress ups were still in a pile on the floor. I went downstairs, and then upstairs, and downstairs again. I couldn't find her anywhere! My heart started to race as I frantically ran through the house. I finally found her asleep under Morgan's bed. I was very relieved and surprised. I had to take a picture before I carefully scooted her out and put her on her bed. She just giggled later when I asked her why she was hiding under Morgan's bed!

Proud of Our Girls

Morgan came bouncing out of tap class today. She was so excited because she was "crowned" Dancer of the Month in her class. An hour later, I walked into the studio to get Lauren and she was sitting down holding her crown in her hand. She was excited too...mostly because she got some candy! They both love dancing. Kevin and I were secretly hoping that they both would be crowned on the same day.

A Wonderful Night

Wednesday night was wonderful! We were invited to the Dinner of Champions put on by the National MS Society. Kevin was given the Living With Hope award and was asked to speak as well. Kevin did amazing. He was able to tell his "story" as well as entertain everyone with a few laughs.

The night was also made magical by the days leading up to it. Finding out that this was a black tie event was nerve-wrecking because neither Kevin or I had something to wear. Luckily we are very blessed and we were taken care of. A special thank you to my sisters, sister-in-law, and mom for dressing me! It is hard for me to accept the help, but I am overwhelmed by the thoughtfulness. What an amazing feeling it is to know you have family willing to go out of their way just for you. Kevin was dressed by an anonymous someone out there. We got a phone call from the local suit shop that someone wanted to buy Kevin a suit. WOW! A very humbling and unexpected phone call. How do you thank anonymous?

Our kids got in on the fun too. They were dispersed between family and good friends. What a relief to know your most cherished possessions are well taken care of. Thank you! They all had a lot of fun.

We were able to share the night with Kevin's grandma, parents, and brother and his wife. Kevin was on cloud nine to have the support of his family. It meant a lot to him. Thank you for being there.

Put everything together and how could it have ended up any different. How could all of this good come from something that started so bad. Kevin was diagnosed four and a half years ago. I still remember the moment Kevin told me he got the results from the doctor. I remember sitting on Kevin's lap in our living room and both of us just sobbing. This "trial" ended up trickling off into many other parts of our lives resulting in various other trials. We have endured many frustrating, difficult, and sad times. I hear people say that they are thankful for their trials and I just can't...but I can't believe how many times and how many ways we have been blessed because of them. What a wonderful night we had! What wonderful friends and family we have! Thank you!!!

So, Marolyn and I were called as the "Activities Committee" for our ward. After the pain-staking process of 100 surveys and hours of heavy construction...we came up with something that may just be the coolest thing ever for a ward party. ETERNAL FAMILY FEUD.

I left her for 2 hours...

Lily was under the watchful eye of her Dad for a short time and has the proof all over her face! I think he did it on purpose so he doesn't have to watch her by himself again!

First day of school

So, I am a week late...but here is the first day of school. Lauren and Morgan were so excited and a little nervous. Ade wanted so badly to go too.

This is it...

Life as a blog has finally begun. After much peer pressure and nagging, we have decided to join the race of the blogging world. More to come...
